EM produces Customer Specific flexible LCD Modules (monochrome) for a diverse range of applications using plastic LCD technology

TN technology
■ For segmented or alphanumeric displays up to 4 multiplex ratio

Shaped LCDs
EM Plastic LCDs are not bound to the traditionnal rectangular shape. They can be delivered in any shapes ideally tailored to the space or design requirements of the customer's product. Sometimes, rectangular LCDs consume to much space or surface; custom shaped LCDs offer an elegant alternative allowing the display to fit the equipment instead of having to design the equipment around the display.

Holes
Some applications require a pass-through in the LCD display for mechanical or electrical connections. EM is able to punch holes in its plastic LCDs.



Thin plastic substrates
■ Use of thin substrates: give a slimmer profile and better viewability to your products. EM can produce LCDs with total thickness (including polarizer) down to 0.45 mm.

Customer specific
Most of EM's Plastic LCD products are customer specific designs. EM is used to accomodate to the particular requests and to engineer solutions, which optimally fit the customer's requirements.

Assembly technologies
■ COB, Chip-on-Board technology with LCD interconnected by Heat Seal Connector or Kapton cable
■ With integrated back-light or light-guide
■ With EM or any other IC driver (LCD Drivers or microcontrollers)
■ Subassembly into custom-injected plastic parts

Light-guides
■ Back-light (LED, CCFL, EL) or Light-guide features can be integrated in the LCD Module.

Touch screens
■ LCD Modules can be integrated with several types of touch screens (resistive, capacitive,…etc).

Typical lead times for a new Plastic LCD module
■ 2 weeks to get the counter drawings
■ 8 to 10 weeks to get the samples after drawing approval
■ 9 to 12 weeks to get the first production after sample approval
